Artificial Intelligence: no longer just science fiction but reality

From fantasy films to reality, artificial intelligence is getting closer and closer to our everyday life.

We all know by now that artificial intelligence is a discipline that studies whether and how intelligent computer systems, capable of simulating the capacity and behaviour of human thought, can be realised. There are numerous scholars and entrepreneurs who have decided to enter this new reality capable of overwhelming the way we approach the world.

Elon Musk himself, not so long ago, revealed to the world his Tesla-Bots, humanoids that in the future will replace humans in tasks, from the simplest to the most tiring. These robots would not only have motor skills, but even intellectual ones. Thus, we are not talking about simple machines that help humans inside factories, we are referring to humanoids that could even become our superiors in a company!

Another example of artificial intelligence is the one Google is supposedly working on, with its Chatbot. Although Google has decided not to talk about it, trying to remove anything referring to its invention from the web.

But that’s not all. Two researchers have decided to compete with monks and master brewers thanks to artificial intelligence: they have experimented with a new system based on artificial intelligence that allows them to create new beer recipes, based on the desired result and the available ingredients.

The progress of this new world does not end there, even in the field of translation, artificial intelligence is becoming more and more of a help even for the world’s most talented translators. Things like this would have been pure science fiction until recently, yet today they are beginning to take more and more hold in our lives. Not to mention Doll-E, an artificial intelligence capable of creating real works of art with very trivial instructions, on a par with a simple Google search.

Marck Zuckerberg also declared that ‘Artificial intelligence finds additional content that people find interesting, this increases engagement and the quality of our feeds’. What the Meta CEO is referring to is the so-called Discovery Engine, i.e. a boost to the news section of the social, which uses Artificial Intelligence to recommend content that users share on their personal page. In fact, from 2023, users will find the Feed section next to the Home symbol (already present as of 2018) where they will be able to see the posts of their virtual friends without being bombarded by advertisements.

All this to understand how artificial intelligence is evolving and soon these incredible technologies will be applied in everyone’s life, even and especially in the workplace, predicting in this way our actions and habits.
