LinkedIn Is No Longer Just a CV!

For years, we have thought of LinkedIn as the place for career opportunities: a platform where we update our CV, talk about a new role, celebrate a professional achievement or share company results.
Then something changed. Today, when opening the feed, it is increasingly easy to come across personal stories, market analysis, opinions, behind-the-scenes content, case studies, newsletters, videos and even content that, until just a few years ago, we would have associated with other platforms.
No, LinkedIn is not becoming Instagram. It is becoming something different: an editorial platform.

From networking to personal publishing
Over the past few years, LinkedIn has introduced an increasing number of tools designed to create content, not just consume it: newsletters, videos, articles, events, live streams and carousels.
With comments becoming increasingly central to the algorithm, the goal is clear: to increase the time users spend on the platform by turning every professional into a potential author.

Being present is no longer enough. Having something to say matters.

Why more and more creators are emerging
This change has contributed to the rise of a new figure: the professional creator.
These are people who consistently share their skills, experiences and points of view, building a community around their field.
Their success does not necessarily depend on the number of followers. It depends on their ability to create conversations: a post that generates dozens of qualified comments can be far more valuable than content seen by thousands of people but ignored by its audience. On LinkedIn, relationships continue to be the most important metric.

Companies are changing the way they communicate too
This phenomenon does not only concern individual professionals. More and more companies are placing the voices of the people who are part of them alongside corporate content: founders, CEOs, managers, industry specialists and entire teams.
People want to know who is behind a brand, which is why personal profiles often achieve better results than company pages.
Not because the algorithm favours people, but because people generate trust.

Authority comes through stories
For a long time, professional communication was synonymous with formality. Today, however, authority also means being able to explain complex concepts simply, share concrete experiences and talk about what has been learned along the way.
Expertise remains fundamental, but stories are what make it memorable.
An honestly told mistake, a project explained from the inside or a reflection born from experience can generate far more engagement than a list of achievements.
What does all this mean for brands?
Companies are not losing space. They are changing their language.
Institutional content continues to play an important role, but today it works better when it coexists with a more human, authentic and recognisable narrative.
This does not mean giving up professionalism. It means building a presence capable of creating relationships before impressions.

Every evolution of the platform seems to be moving in the same direction: favouring quality content, authentic conversations and in-depth insights that provide value to readers.
For companies and professionals, this is not simply a new feature. It is a paradigm shift.
LinkedIn is no longer just the place where we talk about our work: it is becoming the place where we demonstrate the way we think.

In an increasingly crowded digital landscape, standing out does not mean publishing more, but publishing better. LinkedIn is rewarding those who can transform skills, experiences and points of view into content capable of creating dialogue and value.
At Mediability, we help companies and professionals build a strategic presence on LinkedIn, developing content that strengthens authority, identity and relationships with their audiences.
