2020 marks the beginning of the FCA Group’s electrification journey with the launch of the new Fiat 500 and Panda Hybrid.
Both leaders in the city car sector, the Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda are ready to adopt the new hybrid technology without losing the characteristics that have always distinguished them: the first will maintain its status as a pop, fashion and design icon; the second will continue to ensure functionality and driving comfort.
The two iconic Fiat models will be presented in a unique special series: the exclusive ‘Hybrid Launch Edition’ with a Mild Hybrid petrol engine that combines the new 1-litre 3-cylinder engine with a 12-volt BSG (Belt Integrated Starter Generation) electric motor and a lithium battery.
Fiat wants to make the hybrid accessible to everyone by revolutionising urban mobility, continuing the path that had already launched the Fiat Concept Centoventi presented at the last Geneva Motor Show 2019; the new Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda models will be orderable from 10 January, but the first models will be delivered from February 2020.
The Launch Edition comes at a time when the issue of sustainability is at the centre of attention, as Fiat will continue its electrification journey with the production of the new 100% electric Fiat 500 at its Turin headquarters.
The new Fiat 500 and Fiat Panda will be recognisable by the ‘H’ shaped badge on the central pillar and the ‘Hybrid’ identification logo on the tailgate. The interiors will also be innovative and in line with the sustainability philosophy of the entire project; the seats will be partly made using “SEAQUAL® YARN” yarn, the weaving of which produces a special material, certified by SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, made from recycled plastic. Thanks to this initiative Fiat becomes part of the international community dedicated to cleaning the oceans. By purchasing the Launch Edition, customers will contribute to reducing the pollution caused by the use of plastic materials.
