Nuova 500: 'La Prima' is now also a sedan
Following the success of the first cabrio version of the new electric 500, Fiat has unveiled the saloon version of the small full-electric city car. Presented in a video as it whizzes through the magnificent streets of a deserted Rome (watch it here), the new 500 was able to show off all its beauty embodied in the new colours inspired by natural elements, Ocean Green, Mineral Grey and Celestial Blue. In terms of design, then, the new saloon features a panoramic glass roof and a more pronounced spoiler to improve aerodynamic efficiency, without losing those iconic elements that have made the 500 one of the symbols of Made in Italy.
The technical characteristics of the New 500 are unchanged: it is driven by an electric motor positioned on the front axle with 118 horsepower powered by a 42 kWh battery pack embedded in the floorpan. The New 500 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9″, has a self-limited top speed of 150 km/h and promises a range of 320 km.
The mappings are also the same: Normal, Range, the mode that allows the car to be controlled solely by means of the accelerator pedal to exploit the engine brake and recharge the batteries when braking, and Sherpa, the most economical mode, which optimises the available resources to save as much fuel as possible.
Level 2 ADAS provide a comprehensive package of active safety and driver aids, including automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, Urban Blind Spot and Attention Assist as standard. Connectivity is based on the new UConnect 5 infotainment system with a 10.25-inch display, compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, through which the car’s parameters can be controlled as well as certain functions remotely.
The real novelty remains in the price. The “La Prima” sedan can be ordered on Fiat’s website from €34,900, a price that also includes the innovative “easy WallBox” home charging system.
The 500 continues to amaze and excite all Italians, occupying a special place in garages all over Italy since 1957 and continuing to renew itself constantly to keep up with the times. We are certain that there is no end to the novelties at FCA, and this is why Mediability will continue to support this glorious brand in the process of electrification and modernisation of the range, always offering its press review and analysis services with professionalism and punctuality.
