Xbox Enters the World of Handheld Gaming: Introducing the ROG Xbox Ally

After months of rumors, Xbox has finally unveiled its first handheld console to the world: the Rog Xbox Ally. The official announcement came during the Xbox Game Showcase 2025, one of the most highly anticipated and followed events of the year, where both versions of this hybrid device, that combines the power of a PC with the convenience and accessibility of a console, were presented.

With this launch, Xbox is making a decisive entry into the competitive next-gen handheld console market, positioning itself as a direct rival to products like Steam Deck and Switch 2. Rog Xbox Ally aims to become a benchmark in handheld gaming, offering high performance, a refined design and full integration with the Xbox ecosystem, including Game Pass, cloud gaming and backward compatibility with the entire Xbox digital library.

From the presentation video, it clearly emerges how the new console does not abandon its Xbox identity. The control layout remains faithful to tradition, with all the elements that have accompanied players over the years, such as well-calibrated analog sticks and triggers, designed to ensure a familiar and immersive gaming experience, even in handheld format.

The new ROG Xbox Ally will be available in two distinct variants. The standard version will feature an AMD Ryzen Z2A processor, supported by 512 GB of SSD storage and 16 GB of RAM. This model will have a 60 Wh battery with 65-watt fast charging support. The more advanced version, called the ROG Xbox Ally X, will use the new AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip, with 1 TB of storage and a substantial 24 GB of RAM, designed to smoothly handle even the most demanding games. Its larger 80 Wh battery ensures extended battery life for longer gaming sessions. The display, common to both versions, will be a 7-inch Full HD IPS panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate, protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.

The official launch of both versions is scheduled for the 2025 Christmas holiday season, although no official pricing details have been released yet.
